Michael Keane, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC)

Michael Keane is an Electrical Engineer in the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s Office of Electric Reliability, Division of Reliability Standards and Security. He has 30 years of experience in the electric sector in the areas of EMS/SCADA systems, system operations, transmission planning, and information systems. For the past ten years he has worked closely with the North American Electric Corporation (NERC) and industry representatives in the development and enforcement of cyber security standards. His philosophy is that the benefits provided to the grid by innovative automation must be balanced with society’s need for secure, cost effective power. He is a 1984 graduate of Temple University.
